Gobama!!

I love Barack Obama.  If he is half as good as he sounds, carries out half as his promises and threats, then he is ‘da bomb’.  Or is that a passe kind of thing to say?  (Or is it un-PC?)  He is da man!?  Ah, whatever.  I know I’m no longer cool (if I ever was).  And I’m sure in a couple more years my kids will be more than happy to tell me what a loser I am!  Barack may not be president or PM of my country, but I kind of wish he was.

Some of the things he has said, and some of things he seems to be doing are almost unprecedented in an American president.  I am totally blown away by how almost incredibly fantastic he is.   He wants the US to take responsibility and leadership in ending the nuclear proliferation.  Indeed the US must have that responsibility because the US is the only country to ever use a NUCLEAR WEAPON. He admits it, full frontal nudity, holy shit!!!  No american president has ever said anything that comes close to what he is saying here.

Then today, on the news, I hear about a raprochement with Cuba.  Seriously.  How long has it been since the Bay of Pigs??  Does anyone remember or even know what that means anymore?  Bay of Pigs, not raprochement.

The only thing that could make him the most amazing president ever in the entire universe would be for him to turn the US’s drug policies on its collective ear, and legalize marijuhana.  Apparently, he has no interest in even opening that can o’ worms.  But we shall see, my friend, we shall see.

Let me think. So far I have found out that people love Obama because he

    speaks well

is for the ACLU which means atheists get to kick christian butts

supports abortion which in peoples minds means they have the “freedome” to abortion without which they would feel “oppressed”.

is for pornagraphy apparently. What sick creep doesn’t love that.

In short . . . anyone who feels that not having a right to drugs, to porn, to freedome from being offended, to being gay . . . anyone who feels that not having these rights is some form of opression . . . . is the kind of person that loves Obama and hates Bush. I don’t know how many Obama supporters have gone down the gutter . . . but the reality seems to be that some of his supporters are just as I have described. Is is possible that a desire for the pleasure of drugs sex and porn has blinded people to any desire for real freedom? Could it be that peoples pure hatred for christianity has blinded them to the threat of slavery? Do you realize that right now in the G20 summit American businesses have all been taken over by a global system? And all because of Obama? I don’t like this. I hate it so much . . you just wait and see . . . america is about to have a seperation of the union.

You can have Obama any day you want. He is a socialist, IMHO.

    No experience.

No change. (He hired HALF of Bill Clinton’s cabinet, for crying out loud … what kind of change is THAT?)

No idea what people were thinking when they pulled the lever for him …

Oh, and about “rapprochement” … no one alive today remembers slavery in the U.S., but they still vehemently beat white folks with that stick every stinking day … and, he’s worried about normalizing relations with Cuba?

I guess it really does make sense … after all … he’s not black, so why should he be concerned about normalizing relations between whites and blacks?

I hope Obama lives up to the hype. Unfortunately, there wasn’t any other choice (isn’t democracy suppose to involve a choice?), but I’m getting a bit creeped out by his smooth talking and wonder what’s really going on under all his great plans. Fingers crossed.

As for mike00000000001’s lame, narrow, religiously-brainwashed and unsupported opinion above, American corporations went global because of their CEO’s and shareholders greed, and thanks to policies that were well underway a long time before Obana. Reagan rings a bell.

    I wish

I don’t do drugs, I’m not gay, I hate porn, and I wouldn’t have an abortion, but I think these should be a matter of choice to a reasonable point. If a girl is raped and decides for an abortion, than it’s on the rapist’s conscience. If someone is gay, than he/she is gay – it’s none of my business. If someone wants to smoke a bit of pot, it’s not hurting anyone any more than the man downing a beer at the pub.

As for Sandbar, I think he/she just reflects how much we’ve lost our sense of community in North America. Socialist countries in Scandinavia have the best quality of life – I guess you have to see it to believe it. Democratic socialism (which is not communism or stalinism!) works – everyone gains from it.

Why is it that 50 million Americans don’t have health insurance, yet Americans pay more in tax for health care per person than countries that have decent public health care? Why is the illiteracy rate so shamefully high in the supposedly most free and democratic country in the world? Why do all the main media outlets spew the same shit and nobody questions it? These are really important questions.

I don’t think a democracy can work for the people if the only way a candidate can get to the top is through corporate bribery. As long as people remain separated from one another politically, having lost any sense of community and social caring, than there’s no way to have the majority of people’s needs reflected in policy – only big business has that kind of money.

I Googled “socialism scandinavia” and this page was the top hit:

    http://www.brusselsjournal.com/node/510

Not good news regarding the “success” of the “scandinavian model.” Of course, it is far easier to ride the socialism train as it trundles downhill …

Matter of fact, the bulk of that Google search shows articles speaking of scandinavian countries abandoning their socialist practices.

So, tell me again why the US should convert to socialism when the leading model countries are moving away from it? I guess it really doesn’t make any difference since P.O. has already guided the government to a $1.7 Trillion purchase of private businesses. That is just a stepping stone to P.O.’s desire to socialize this great nation.

Sara: Enjoyed a laugh over your “loss of sense of community” comment. Our nation is adopting a Rodney King “can’t we all just get along” style of morality, which has condemned our nation. The U.S. is in a downward spiral toward total immorality (no sense of right or wrong) and instead is embracing the sins of the world as normalcy. We live in a sick, sick world.

So, if losing my “sense of community” means that I am still holding on to the importance of solid, upgright, moral values that built the U.S. into the greatest economic, military and social power in the world … well, guilty as charged. I refuse to be drawn into the world’s pool of debauchery. My voice will remain clear, confident and constantly clamoring for righteous living.

You, my friend, may desire to have the government take care of you. My suggestions, and prayer, for you is that you will learn to stand on your own two feet and join with me as we strive to restore government to it’s orginally intended purposes of providing for the national defense, governing intra-state commerce, etc. Government is a leech that we need to remove from our pocketbooks and the majority of our lives.

      Sandbar,
I don’t think anyone is saying the US should convert to a socialist state. Simply that there are aspects of socialism that indeed do work, and can benefit all the citizens, instead of only the ones who can afford it. I know many Americans believe Canada is socialist, simply because we have a national health care system, troubled though it may be at times, but I for one am extremely thankful that it is there. I couldn’t imagine the medical bills I would have incurred when my children were born if we did not. We all pay into the system so that when we need it, it is there. By the same token, we all pay our taxes, like it or not, so that we have clean drinking water, a transportation system, a road network that is kept in good repair (mostly), good schools for our children, access to social programs that catch us when we fall, although there are still many that fall through the cracks. This is what we as a nation have strived for and believe in. It’s not a ‘desire for government to take care of you’, and if you think that’s what social democracy is, then I think you don’t understand the term. There are many socialist aspects in the American system, and the US would completely break down if you didn’t have them.
I will agree with you that government is a leech, and does overstep its bounds many times over. But as in any big bureaucracy or corporation, there will be corruption, pure stupidity and greed. This is not socialism, this is simple human behaviour. And unfortunately with our governments, I don’t think there is any going back. The way things are unfolding throughout the world would indicate that government is only going to get bigger and meaner everywhere. We are headed for trouble no matter which way you look at it. The crush of the student uprising in China was the shining example of what the world can shut its eyes to in the name of greed.
I also know you are a ‘Christian’, and I mean no insult when I say that this colours your views to an extreme extent. Your views on morality are strictly guided by your religion. Mine are not. My values are drawn from my experiences, and my own sense of right or wrong. This does not make me immoral. I have a very strong sense of ethics, and when I see some of the things that happen in our world in the name of religion, it makes me question how any one could be a part of something so vile. I hear of what is happening to the politically active women in Afghanistan, and it makes me sick. All in the name of religion. And, yes, I use broad strokes. All religions are the same. That doesn’t mean all the people are the same.
Our world has been sick for a long time and not due to a lack of religion or immorality. Throughout history there have been many different practices that in our present time we would deem ’sick’. And these practices were promoted by the religious institutions of the time.
Anyway, I know that you will not change your mind, nor will I change mine.
I still think Barack O’bama is the best thing that could have happened to the US in a long time. If nothing else, the US was in a dark place with Bush. The sun is now finally shining on you. By electing him, the USA has shot up in the esteem of pretty much every other country in the world. An analogy: Our big brother was dating a horrible, obnoxious, dumb-as-a-post greedy bitch who was only out for herself and her friends. He finally woke up, dumped her, and married the intelligent, caring, straight talking, thinking for herself woman who wanted to be his partner, and not his boss, and wanted to work together to build a strong relationship with him and his entire family.
Or at least we hope she is what she seems.
