Oh my Flying Spag Monsters, it’s been a busy, eventful holiday season. A very full house, too much good food, no big fisticuff fights, and just for Christmas day, a blazing fire complete with firemen and trucks and sirens.
I will write a full account soon, everyone leaves on Friday and then I will feel sad and lonely, and at a loss. So that will give me something to do. But a gentle thought goes out to my poor neighbors, whose house burnt down last night, on Christmas day. We all have neighbors, some are good, some less. These were nice ones. I can’t imagine how it would feel. And to stand in my living room, watching their house go up in flames is something I won’t forget any time soon.
I didn’t take any pictures. Somehow that just did not feel like the right thing to do.

Only seven days until Christmas Eve. Only 5 or 6 days till company starts rolling in. I’d better get moving, with the cleaning and baking. So far we’ve made cookies and treats about 4 or 5 times, but somehow, when I look in the cookie tin, it is always empty!! Very suspicious, I must say.
Yesterday was an amazing day! The snowfall we got exceeded the predictions from the weather ‘experts’. We must have 2 1/2, 3 feet out there. I got a workout with my shovel, and the girls made snow angels, and had a blast jumping in all the fresh snow. It certainly was very pretty. I still have some shovelling to do. Today is beautiful, sun shinning, so we’ll bundle up and Meg can play as I work. But I have to say, I blame Sarah (my sister) for all this snow. She and her husband are in Canada for Christmas, and she stated several times that she wanted a white Christmas. Well, she is certainly going to have one this year!!
Well, I guess I’d better get dressed, and get outside. Lots to do, inside and out.
Must work harder for animal farm.
Winter scenery for Sarah, and Tye wondering what happened.

Once again, I will never get back these two hours of my life. But it was worth it. To see my girls having fun at the school dance. They had a ball, these two belles. Aren’t they gorgeous!

Have you finished your shopping, or are you like me and haven’t even really started yet? I just can’t seem to get into the Christmas spirit yet, even though there is snow on the ground, and the kids are so excited! I think part of it is the decorations in stores, and the commercials have been out for so long, it doesn’t mean anything now. Plus I just have absolutely no idea what to get the people that I need to buy gifts for. For that matter, I have no idea what I want. Nothing really. Money?? Ha! Maybe someone will get one of the cats fixed for me for Christmas. That’s something I want/need.
Ah well. Not much else is new around here. I am the revolving cat lap, and they drive me nuts, cause they try to get petted while I’m trying to type. The other day, Mina managed to erase a nice long post I’d been working on and had put some thought and research into, with a simple jump on to the keyboard. What a pita. (My new word, stands for pain in the ass) but you don’t have to tell anyone that. Call your husband a pita, see what he says.
Well, I off. I’m boring myself, can’t imagine what any one reading this thinks!!!

This may come off slightly holier-than-though, but in all seriousness, we are the rich. We have so damn much, in comparison to so many people around the world. This time of year, especially, when we are stressing over the perfect gift for our hubby, our child, whomever, why not think of someone on the other side of the continent who could use a leg up? Instead of buying another useless gift (or even if it is useful) think of buying a goat in someone’s name. Or look into the micro-loan thingy. I did. Not for anyone but myself. I lent a whopping $50 to someone in Nigeria tonight. She needed it for supplies for her business. It made me feel good, I said a Merry Christmas to myself, and yes, I could have spent that on my kids, or myself, but you know, I didn’t really need it. Neither do my kids. We have so much. We have a roof over our heads, we have cars, we have food, we have clothes, we have schools, we have doctors, we even have pets (that we don’t eat!!!) We have computers and tvs, and radios, and so much that I can’t keep the house clean for the clutter. We have too much. Please check out Kiva, and consider making a micro loan. Chances are it’ll make you feel good.

It looks like we are definitely in for a white Christmas this year. We’ve had so much snow in the last little while. The kids are loving it. I remember the joy of putting on a snow suit and diving in to all that snow when I was a kid. So much fun.
North Bay was a nice trip. I got a lot of Christmas shopping done. Okay, okay, it was shopping for myself, but it was needed. I can’t remember the last time I actually bought new clothes for me, that’s how long it’s been. The Grandmas and the kids went to see the movie ‘Enchanted’, which they enjoyed. And the van was fine. So over all it was a good trip.
The cats are growing like weeds, and seem to be multiplying!! Just kidding. Now the the cold weather has hit, Tye and Jing are coming inside so we have five cats under foot at times. Although Tye pretty much eats and then runs to my room to curl up on our bed, and Jing sleeps on Emma’s. The kittens are okay with it, and everyone gets on allright. A neighbor up the street thought Jing was adorable, and I was telling her how she came to be ‘not mine’. She said she would have done the same thing, so I’m thinking I should bring Jing by as a Christmas present or something! But I think she would just come back here! (The cat, not the neighbor!!)
Well, I’ve noticed people looking for tomato seeds (you know who you are) are coming across this little blog of mine. I have seeds for the asking! (and a sase). Just drop me a note, and I’ll see what I can do. I saved quite a lot from my tomatoes this year, and I have named individual seeds, as well as a pile of mixed seed from my last batch of salsa.

Isn’t Simon just the cutest? Move over Morris, this cat could sell the moon. (No, of course I’m not biased in any way.)
